Editing B4 the Editor

Editing B4 the Editor

Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM) (CDT)

Description

Do we pay CEO prices for someone to wipe up a spill? Of course not. Sending our work to editors when it isn’t polished is much like that. Don’t make your editor get out their mop instead of their polishing cloth. Pre-editing is more than just browsing our manuscripts for typos, dropped words, and formatting issues. Learn the Who, What, When, Where, and Why there is a need to pre-edit before engaging someone to analyze our work, as well as practical tips on exactly how to pre-edit. Handouts and helps included. Cathy Rueter writes Christian murder and cozy mysteries. She’s an author, speaker, and creative—stitching together stories with a dash of romance and a slash of death—professions she learned as a former bridal designer, community journalist, and editor. With Michigan roots and Texas shoots, her heart and accent are firmly planted in both states. If she’s not at her desk, she can be found with her nose in a book, hanging out with family, or making a creative mess of some sort. Follow along on the journey at: www.cathyrueter.com and on social media platforms: @cathyrueterwriter.
